How Super Eagles Rated Vs Algeria

Completesportsnigeria.com's ADEBOYE AMOSU appraises the performance of Super Eagles players in their 3-1 win against Algeria at the Godswill Akpabio international Stadium, Uyo on Saturday.

Daniel Akpeyi 6/10

MegaMillionsNaija

Proved a capable replacement for the injured first goalkeeper of the side, Carl Ikeme. The Chippa United goalie made two smart saves in the first half and was badly exposed by his defenders for Algeria's only goal scored by Nabil Bentaleb.

KENNETH OMERUO 5/10

Struggled in an unfamiliar right- back position. Omeruo had a torrid time containing the Algerians and was also poor going forward. He was replaced in the second half by Shehu Abdullahi due to injury.

WILLIAM TROOST EKONG 5/10

The centre- back put up an error prone performance in the heart of Super Eagles defence. His ball distribution was also below par in the encounter.

LEON BALOGUN 5/10

His return to the side failed to bring sanity to the  Super Eagles defence as he struggled to assert his authority in the game.

ELDERSON ECHIEJILE 6/10

Put up an improved  performance than in the previous game against Zambia but will still to do well while going forward.

OGENYI ONAZI 6/10

The Turkey based midfielder put up a decent performance combining well with the hardworking Oghenekaro Etebo to thwart the Algerians in the middle of the park.

OGHENEKARO ETEBO 8/10

Provided the assist for Nigeria's second goal scored by John Obi Mikel. Etebo's passing, movement and tackling in the game was top notch.

JOHN OBI MIKEL 7/10

A fine performance from the skipper of the side who scored his side's second goal in the game. He was replaced by Wilfred Ndidi late on.

ALEX IWOBI 6/10

The Arsenal winger was not at his best in the game, but still exhibited some nice footballing skills. He was hauled off for Ahmed Musa 25 minutes from time.

VICTOR MOSES 9/10

Unarguably the man of the match in the game. Scored two brilliant goals and was a thorn in the flesh of the Algerians all through.

KELECHI IHEANACHO 5/10

Led the attack for the Super Eagles but never really made much impact in the game.

SUBSTITUTES

SHEHU ABDULLAHI 4/10

Brought some sanity to the right side of Nigeria's defence following his introduction for the injured Kenneth Omeruo in the second half.

AHMED MUSA 4/10

Took the place of Alex Iwobi and provided the assist for Nigeria's second third goal scored by Victor Moses.

WILFRED NDIDI 3/10

Came on for John Obi Mikel in the last 10 minutes and helped in curtailing the Algerians.

  • who made this analysis knows nothing abt football, all the players should earn above 7 over 10

    Poor ratings..

  • I agree with Mike totally, that was a solid solid performance by the Super Eagles. All the players played above 5 over 10. Good work rate, good effort.

Pls it’s either d person dat did dis ratings dis watch d match or he knows nothing abt football. D goalkeeper should be on 3points, d 2 central defenders should have 7 points. Echijile should be on 4. Omeruo 4.

  • What a pessimistic rating. Almost everyone scoring 6 and below for a team that won 3-1. You guys need to get a professional to do this and remove emotions/sentiments

  • Utibe Ikot 7 years ago

These ratings are miles away from reality.

  • Arinze 7 years ago

This is ridiculous and embarrassing. Did you the writer even watch the match? The rating doesn't make sense to me, and giving Balogun who "suffered" in that defence anything less than 7/10 is nonsense.

  • Adeniyi 7 years ago

What a silly rating! Rating Ekong and Balogun who curtailed the Algeria attacks 5/10 is silly. Balogun won all his aerial duels….he made good tackles and often drive back the algerians to their half, Ekong might not be at his best but he was still solid and strong. Its like u guys dont know Algeria has the best attack in the continent. Your rating is so so wrong.
