VINCENT ENYEAMA:
Surely will be rated as one of the best goalkeepers of the 2014 World Cup after putting up a string of superb saves but couldn’t do anything for both goals.

He was called into action in the 22nd minute when the French broke through Paul Pogba who made a one-two with Mathieu Debuchy and followed it with a volley which Enyeama parried.

In the 79th minute, he made a point-blank save off a Karim Benzema header which was destined for the net before making another fine save from Antoine Griesmann which would have doubled the lead for the French. (8)

EFE AMBROSE:
Compared to his three previous games, Efe Ambrose had an improved performance especially in the first half and in the early part of the second half as he looked assured with the ball at his feet, provided width for the Eagles by driving forward.

But couldn’t cope when Griezmann was brought in as the Real Sociedad man ran rings round him and almost scored but was thwarted by Enyeama. (6)

JOSEPH YOBO:
Earned his 100th cap for the Super Eagles and did very well but marked his celebration with an unfortunate own-goal which doubled the lead for France and knocked the stuffing out of the Super Eagles.

This should be his last game for the Eagles after making his debut in 2001 (6)

KENNETH OMERUO:
Alongside Yobo, Omeruo did very well by containing the attacking threat of France. He tracked Arsenal’s Olivier Giroud all through until he was replaced in the second half.

He couldn’t be blamed for both goals as the collapse of the midfield piled pressure on the defence which eventually cost the team. (7)

JUWON OSHANIWA:
Made a timely clearance off Paul Pogba’s head and put in a lot of efforts by venturing forward to assist the attack.

But he was caught out of position occasionally due to his forays upfront which almost cost his side. Should have closed down Mathieu Valbuena properly but allowed him enough space which led to the second goal. (6)

MIKEL OBI:
Unarguably Mikel is the biggest flop in the Eagles team right from the Eagles first game against Iran as he once again failed to turn up when needed as he neither supported the team offensively nor defensively.

In the 33rd minute, he gave the ball away after dwelling on it for so long which almost resulted to a goal. And in the 41st minute, he almost scored an own-goal when he miscued but was saved the embarrassment by Enyeama who was alert. (3)

OGENYI ONAZI:
He looked the best player for the Eagles as he went about his normal duty of snuffing out every danger and also launching attacks.

Suffered a knock in the early part of the game but shook it off and returned which was a relief for the team.

Unfortunately, his removal in the 55th minute after a bad tackle by Blaise Matuidi which only attracted a yellow card, cost the team as the midfield struggled without him. (7)

OSAZE ODEMWINGIE:
He was one of the Eagles better players in the game and also in the tournament as he was involved in almost all the attacks they created as he kept probing, finding spaces and even tested Hugo Lloris with a long range effort which was saved.

He had a good shout for a penalty when Patrice Evra held him in the 18-yard box off a corner kick which the referee didn’t spot. (7)

VICTOR MOSES:
He failed to impress again after he was brought back into the team after being left out for the games against Bosnia-Herzegovina and Argentina.

Couldn’t initiate anything in attack as his mazy runs and dribbles were non-existent, and looked lost occasionally.

His only meaningful impact was a 70th minute goal line clearance which was destined for the back of the net before he was finally put out of his misery by coming off for Uche Nwofor in the 89th minute. (4)

EMMANUEL EMENIKE:
Did everything he could to impose himself in the game but unfortunately it proved fruitless as chances came at a premium for him.

Had the ball in the net in the first half but his effort was ruled offside. Had an attempt on goal again in the first half but his long range shot was saved by Lloris. (6)

AHMED MUSA:
Unlike the game against Argentina where he scored two beautiful goals and gave Pablo Zabaleta a torrid time, Ahmed Musa was not given enough room to operate as he was anonymous in most parts of the encounter and his corner kicks failed to find a single Eagles player. (6)

SUBSTITUTE:
GABRIEL REUBEN:
Was brought in for the injured Onazi in the 59th minute to provide cover for the midfield but was an eye sore as he contributed absolutely nothing to the team which the French took advantage of.

Would be a surprise call up for the Eagles in future games. (3)

UCHE NWOFOR:
Replaced the disappointing Moses in the 89th minute but couldn’t salvage a lost cause. (5)
