Banyana Coach Ellis Announces Squad For 2018 Women’s AFCON

“We’ve been in camp for like five weeks. We started camp with domestic players and after two weeks we cut the squad down and in the end, with the final squad we have a very good mix of foreign based professionals and very talented home based players,” Dennerby said in an interaction with media in Cape Coast on Saturday.

“I think we’re getting better and better. The only thing that maybe we should have had is two more friendlies because now we are really not sure where exactly we are at the moment.

“They (South Africa) have prepared well. They played lots of friendly games this year – at least 6 or 7, so I have a good picture of them and we know that they are a good team that is getting better and better.

“It’s an enormous situation for the girls because everybody wants to beat the champions, so it’s going to be a very tough game on Sunday.

“The way I feel confident is what I know about my own players; they are really good, they are in good shape and with a lot of experience.”

The competition started on Saturday with hosts Ghana securing a slim 1-0 win against Algeria, while Cameroon edged Mali 2-1 in another Group A encounter.

The Super Falcons, South Africa match will kick-off at 3:30 pm Nigerian time.

  • I trust our girls

It’s going to be a difficult match because the South African girls are determined more than ever to win the super falcons. The Bafana girls seems to be getting better in each African women tournament and the super falcons managed to beat them in Cameroon 2016 with just a lone goal through a free kick. These Bafana girls won the hosts of the tournament Ghana, in a friendly match Before their home fans. This certainly shows that they’ll have no respect for the super falcons who are visitors in Ghana just as they are. But we have experience And confidence on our side. Our girls understands the terrain well and know how to win matches. Out strength however is in our attack line and I hope our midfield would be compact a bit to help the defence stop the passes and runs of these Bafana ladies. I’m sure we’ll win the match. God bless the super falcons of Nigeria.

  • Super falcons are not super at all, they cant even put a pass together, very biring game. We are better grooming the home base that has pace rather than rely on these “grannies”

  • Im sure the home based girls would had done better than these “grannies”
A midfield anchored by a 30 year old that has no legs, defenders that needed 20 touches to control the ball.
They should stop living in their past glory and get thier acts together.

      The match has ended
      Nigeria 0 : 1 South Africa

It was not a good outing by our ladies

NFF and the soccer technical team have to start work on a new youthful and stronger national team.

Our ladies have made us proud even more than our men counterparts.

We should invest in them just like we do on the male teams!!

I don talk my own !
