SWAN Gives Oliseh Seven Day Ultimatum To Validate Dubious Journalists Claim

Sports Writers Association of Nigeria, have given Super Eagles coach Sunday Oliseh, a seven day day ultimatum to name the journalists he claimed approached him for money in exchange for favourable reports.

On Sunday, in a YouTube video outburst, Oliseh accused some unnamed journalists of trying to extort money from him.

In a five paragraph release on Tuesday, which was signed by the Secretary General of SWAN, Andrew Abah, Oliseh was mandated to substantiate his claim that some journalists accosted him, and asked for money in exchange for favourable reports.

The released also recalled Oliseh's claim that some journalists even went as far as acting as agents in order to get some players into the Eagles.

According to the release: "Our attention has been drawn to a recent statement credited to the Head Coach of the Super Eagles Mr.Sunday Ogochukwu Oliseh that some members of the Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN) have been approaching him requesting for money to enable them write favourable reports for him, and that some are acting as agents requesting that he invites certain players to camp so that they can do business with them.

"The leadership of the Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN) in its quest to ensure continous sanity in the profession, and for the purpose of the change mantra which is gradually revolving round every aspect of the economy, is requesting that the Head Coach names these journalists that approached him within the next seven days.

"This has become imperative considering the recent bashing the Sports Writers have been receiving from the NFF and its employees. It would be recalled that the NFF President only recently at the National Assembly took a swipe on the Sports Writers for being the brain behind their inabilities to secure sponsors for the Federation.

"Henceforth, SWAN would no longer fold its arms and watch people blame their misfortune on the Association. We have, as major stakeholders, contributed positively to the development of sports in the country, and would no longer tolerate people dragging SWAN in their maladministration technical ineptitude.

"We remain committed to sports development in Nigeria."

Unless SWAN is ready to engage the EFFC to lead and prosecute, they should leave Oliseh alone. We know what Nigerians and the journalists can do: AIT and newspapers accepting security money to enhance a party’s cause and reporters receiving payment to feature news pieces.

Is it not in this Nigeria that the PUNCH and Media (Collecting bribe) happened. SWAN should go and sit down. Let allow peace to reign so we can get back to the field with good mind and clear head.

Over time many people have been fraustrating Nigerian indigenous coaches in order to engage a foreigner as Super Eagle Coach. Amodu, Keshi and now Oliseh are victims of NFF or sports writers politics  of ''Pull him down syndrome''. Criticisim, insult, abuse is the order of the day. You win a match you are criticised  that the team did not play well, you draw a match you are insulted that you fielded average  players and if you lose abuses everywhere asking the coach to resign.

During the time of Clemence westahof he insult fans, Sports Writer ,NFA,  and nothing happened. Why can't we encourage, support or proffer solution ie constructive criticism to our own. The technical department of NFA had ordered Oliseh to appear before it, The SWAN had given Oliseh 7days ultimatum to name names. Haba, Haba, We have a crucial match at hand against Egypt. Oliseh had apologised and fined can't we leave him to concentrate on qualifing Nigeria to AFCON
