Switzerland coach Vladimir Petkovic hopes the team
will get the accolades they deserve following their spirited display against Brazil in their Group E clash at the 2018 FIFA World Cup on Sunday.
Petkovic’s men held their five-time winners to a 1-1 draw in Rostov.
Phillipe Coutinho gave Brazil the lead in the 20th minute but Switzerland rallied back to level scores five minutes after the break from a Steven Zubar header.
“I hope people take notice of us now. There’s a lack of recognition and that’s a pity because sometimes we play very well,” Petkovic stated during his post-match interaction with the media.
“We lost once in qualifying. We demonstrated tonight that this team always believes in itself and we will play with the same consistency going forward.”
Switzerland will face Serbia who defeated Costa Rica 1-0 earlier in the day in their next game on Friday.
