Former Super Eagles left-back Taye Taiwo has shunned lucrative offers from Turkey, completesportsnigeria.com exclusively reports.
The ex-Lobi Stars, Olympique Marseille, AC Milan, QPR and Dynamo Kiev defender is not interested in any deals coming from the country that is now a haven to most Nigerian players, completesportsnigeria.com understands.
An unnamed top Turkish side made enquiries about the possibility of signing the former Flying Eagles star, which he turned down.
But confirmation to that effect emerged on Tuesday when his older brother, Waidi, spoke to completesportsnigeria.com.
"Taye is not considering offers from Turkey now. There was a team which he didn't disclose that approached him.
"Rather than Turkey, Taye is hoping to get offers in Germany or Spain; those are the countries he wishes interest would come from," Waidi said on Tuesday.
Completesportsnigeria.com's sources however confirmed interest from two second-tier Turkish clubs for the player.
Karsyaka and Goeztepe are second division sides hoping to pay the Nigerian €300,000 and €350,000 aside from bonuses per annum respectively, Completesportsnigeria.com gathered.
"The clubs are bent on gaining promotion to the elite division and are in the transfer market for experienced players and Taiwo fits the bill. That's why they want him," the source hinted.
Taye's youngest brother, Azeez, however corroborates the thoughts of their father, Alhaji Ismaila Taiwo, on where their brother and son will play next season.
"I don't know if Taye will reconsider his options but its his decision to make," Azeez told Completesportsnigeria.com.
The father, Alhaji Ismaila said: " I'm not the one to play in Turkey, it's my son. Whatever choices he makes is good by me as long as its for his best interest."
