Nigeria’s 2017 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers opponents, Tanzania, begin their campaign in the COSAFA Cup in South Africa on Monday.
The Taifa Stars, along with Egypt and Chad are in Nigeria’s qualifying group for AFCON 2017, billed for Gabon.
The Tanzanians are using their participation in COSAFA, a tournament for mostly Southern African sides, to prepare for the AFCON qualifiers.
They open their campaign against Swaziland on Monday at the Royal Bafokeng Sports Palace, Rustenburg, incidentally the venue of Nigeria’s AFCON 2013 victory over Cote d’Ivoire. The match kicks off at 6.30pm Nigerian time.
Tanzania then take on Madagascar on Wednesday at the same venue, then face Lesotho on Friday in Moruleng.
Other countries participating in the tournament include hosts South Africa, Zambia, Mozambique and invitees Ghana.
