Super Eagles’ 2017 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying opponents, the Taifa Stars of Tanzania, were defeated by tiny Swaziland 1-0 in their opening Cosafa Cup clash on Monday night.
A 43rd minute strike by Sifiso Mabila put Swaziland ahead, and all efforts by Tanzania to level the score proved futile as Swaziland held on for the win.
Swaziland join group opponents Madagascar at the top of Group B after the Islanders secured a 2-1 win over Lesotho earlier in the evening.
The Super Eagles are grouped alongside Tanzania, Egypt and Chad in the qualifiers for the 2017 AFCON in Gabon.
