The Tanzania Football Federation has postponed the start of the 2015/2016 league season due to the Taifa Stars highly anticipated 2017 African Cup of Nations qualifying tie against the Super Eagles of Nigeria.
The new league season was initially scheduled to get underway on August 22 but according to a report on Tanzania’s Daily News, the TFF has now postponed it to September 12, to pave way for the Taifa Stars’ preparations for the crucial game.
Tanzania will host three-time kings of Africa, Nigeria on match day-two of the qualifiers on September 5 at the National Stadium in Dar es Salaam.
The Stars currently sit in last position on the table following a 3-0 defeat to the Pharoahs of Egypt on match day-one.
The Super Eagles on the other hand opened their campaign with a 2-0 win over Chad.
The match will be the first for the newly appointed Super Eagles head coach, Sunday Oliseh and his tanzanian counterpart, Charles Boniface Nkwasa.
