Tanzania head coach Mart Nooij has named a 20-man squad for the forthcoming COSAFA Cup which holds from 17th 17 May to 31 May in South Africa.
The Taifa Stars are scheduled to open their Group B campaign against Swaziland on Monday, before facing Madagascar two days later.
They will conclude the preliminary campaign against Lesotho on May 22. Winners of the group will proceed into the quarterfinals and will face West African giants Ghana.
Nooij will use the event to shape up his side ahead of the 2016 African Nations Championship (CHAN) and 2017 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers that start in June against Egypt and Nigeria respectively.
The Dutchman has already pledged that his team will put in brave fight and try to win the COSAFA Cup as he believes a vintage performance in South Africa will help boost their confidence ahead of the continental qualifiers.
Shortly after the COSAFA championship, the Taifa Stars will immediately embark on preparations for the 2017 AFCON qualifier clash against Egypt in Cairo on June 13.
Meanwhile, skipper Nadir Haroub is among five players who failed to the make the squad after being declared unfit. Other players who have been left out of the travelling squad due to lack of fitness as Aishi Manula, Hassan Isihaka, Haroun Chanongo and Kelvin Friday.
The squad: Goalkeepers: Deogratius Munishi (Yanga) and Mwadini Ali (Azam). Defenders: Shomari Kapombe, Aggrey Morris, Erasto Nyoni (Azam), Oscar Joshua, Kelvin Yondani (Yanga), Abdi Banda (Simba), Salim Mbonde (Mtibwa Sugar) and Haji Mwinyi (KMKM).
Midfielders: Salum Abubakar, Frank Domayo (Azam), Said Juma, Salum Telela, Hassan Dilunga (Yanga), Said Ndemla (Simba) and Mwinyi Kazimoto (Al Markhira). Strikers: Ibrahim Ajib (Simba), Mrisho Ngassa, Simon Msuva (Yanga), John Bocco (Azam) and Juma Luizio (Zesco United).
