Former Super Eagles defender, Taye Taiwo, has tipped the Super Eagles to qualify for the 2017 Africa Cup of Nations in Gabon despite the lack of optimism by a cross section of Nigerian fans.
The HJK Helsinki of Finland left-back, in a chat with Completesportsnigeria.com, believes Oliseh can re-enact the feat achieved by Otto Gloria (1980), Clemence Westerhof (1994) and Stephen Keshi (2013).
"Sunday Oliseh has started very well in his job as Super Eagles head coach and I have no doubt in my mind that he will achieve what the other Nigerian national team coaches achieved – winning the Nations Cup.
"People may be worried by the draw against Tanzania away, but getting a result on the road in Africa is not entirely a bad one. The team will qualify for the Nations Cup, no problem about that one.
"I believe with the right players, unity in the camp and support of the Nigeria Football Federation and Nigerians, the Eagles can be African champions again," the former youth international opines.
Former Gombe State FA Chairman, Gara Gombe Shuaibu on Wednesday insisted that Oliseh will not qualify for the 2017 AFCON and condemned the sacking of erstwhile coach of the team, Stephen Keshi.
The Eagles will play against DR Congo in an international friendly on Thursday in Belgium, and against Cameroon on Sunday.
