Team Nigeria’s woes in the volleyball event of the on-going 11th All Africa Games continue as Team Algeria women’s volleyball handed out a 3-1 defeat to their Team Nigeria counterparts in continuation of the Group B games here in Brazzaville on Monday.

The night before, host country, Congo Brazzaville, defeated their Team Nigeria men’s volleyball counterparts with same 3-1 margin.

The match was decided at the Indoor Sports Hall of the GAMD in Diata late Sunday night.

Team Nigeria have four more games to play in the group against Cape Verde, Cameroon, Mozambique and Kenya.

Victory in at least three of the games will enhance their qualification for the next round of the volleyball event and possibly having an eye on the podium at the All Africa Games.

Meanwhile, Team Nigeria boxers at the on-going 11th All Africa Games are on the fast lane for a possible step on the podium.

Kazeem Soyeye, fighting in the 60kg category, set the ball rolling with a unanimous points decision over his Tanzanian fighter, Ismail Isaack.

The victory sets up a fight with Sarouna Fafiou of Togo with the fight slated for Talangai on Monday.

Similarly, Team Nigeria pugilist, Kehinde Ademuyiwa, overcame his Angolan foe, Vidal Gaieta, same night to set up a clash with Algeria’s Abbadi Lyes.

Also on Monday, Nigeria’s Ajagba Efe, fighting in the +91kg category, will have a day with Kenya’s Daniel Shisi in one of the preliminary bouts of the boxing event at Talangai.

Ebele Danwoko will settle scores with Kenya’s Tobias Okey Ayoi in the 81kg category just as Taiwo Abiodun will slug it out with Kabwe Emmanuel in the 52 Flyweight category.

All the boxing bouts will hold at Talangai.
