The Rock Partners Disney For Blockbuster Movie

Wrestling superstar Dwayne Johnson better known as The Rock is poised to team up with film production company Disney for a classic that will tell the story of the Jungle Cruise theme-park ride to the big screen.

The Hollywood Reporter reports that John Requa and Glenn Ficarra, the writers behind the Will Smith heist movie Focus, are writing the script.

The movie is in early development and there's no word yet on when Rock may film it, the report further stated.

The film which is not set in modern times takes its riders into various African settings, such as the Nile and Congo rivers.

The Rock said of the project: "(Disney production president) Sean Bailey and Disney have been awesome partners and now the fun part begins … We're starting to put in the work with Requa and Ficarra and our creative team. Fired up about this one. Here we go."

Disney has been trying to get a movie going based on the ride since 2004. The ride is one of Disneyland's original rides, featuring a retro adventure theme.

The Rock who has had seventeen WWE Championship first acted in a leading role in the movie, The Scorpion King, in 2002.

The 43 year-old actor and producer born on May 2, 1972, has also acted in other films like The Fast and the Furious, The Rundown, The Game Plan, Get Smart, The Other Guys and Faster.
