Current Togo coach Tom Saintfeit has stated that the two friendly games the Super Eagles played against Mali and Luxembourg will have a positive impact in the team.

The Eagles defeated Mali 1-0 on Friday in Rouen, France thanks to Kelechi Iheanacho's strike.

On Tuesday, Nigeria recorded their second win in four days, beating Luxembourg 3-1, with goals coming from Brown Ideye, Iheanacho and Odion Ighalo.

Speaking to thenff.com Saintfeit, who has been linked with the Nigeria job and was at the Stade Josy Barthel Stadium venue of the match between the Eagles and Luxembourg, hailed the Salisu Yusuf-led side for their impressive performance especially in the second half.

“Certainly, it is always more difficult to play the so-called smaller teams. They go all out at you because they really don’t have much to lose," the Belgian, who in 2012 was touted to take over as Nigeria national teams technical director,  pointed out.

“The Super Eagles had a great game in the second half because they made good use of space and created several chances.

"It was a bit tight in the first half because Luxembourg refused to come out to play and concentrated on frustrating Nigeria. I think these matches (including the one against Mali in France) were good for the Super Eagles.”
