—ITTF Celebrates Nigerian Table Tennis Star In Congo

Nigria table tennis star, Segun Toriola, will be honoured on Friday before his men’s singles quarter-final match in the on-going 11th All Africa Games in Congo Brazzaville, completesportsnigeria.com reveals.
The world governing body of table tennis, the International Table Tennis Federarion, has programmed a special birthday party for the Nigeria who clocks 41 on Friday.
The brief but emotional birthday party has been scheduled to hold at the Revolution Hall, venue of the table tennis event of the All Africa Games.
Toriola had seen off Madagascan opponent, Nativel Jonathan, 4-1 to seal a place in the last eight.
Toriola defeated his opponent 11-6, 6-11, 11-7, 11-7, 13-11 to advance to the quarter-finals.
“It’s a great honor for me to be recognised by ITTF and I’m so happy,” Toriola told completesportsnigeria.com after the clash with Jonathan.
Three Nigerian players progressed to the men’s quarter-finals scheduled for the evening of Friday.
They include Aruna Quadri who saw off his Algerian challenger, Khourta Idir, 4-1 and Onolapo Ojo who defeated Lashin El-Saheed of Egypt 4-1, a victory considered to be an upset because Ojo had not beaten the Egyptian before.
Egypt has the pair of Assar Omar and Assar Khalid in the quarters.
