Town Defender Expects Second Season To Be Tougher

Florent Hadergjonaj believes Huddersfield Town will find it harder to stay in the Premier League at the second time of asking. The Swiss international played a significant role in helping David Wagner’s men beat the drop in their inaugural Premier League campaign, making 23 top-flight appearances.

But the 24-year-old defender acknowledges the size of the task facing the Terriers this term as they look to do it all over again.

“The second year is always harder to play in the Premier league,” said Hadergjonaj.

“It’s always harder to confirm the second year. We need to stick together – we know what it means to stay in the league.”

The former Ingolstadt player started in last season’s 0-0 draw at Manchester City – but knows Town must be ready for another stern test of their mettle when they visit the Etihad Stadium on Sunday.

“It was a great atmosphere because City were champions,” he reflected.

“Now it’s a different situation – it’s the second game.

“It was a big game for all of us players and we dream of playing in games like that – especially for me as a young player.

“In the Premier League every game is hard. This time it is Manchester City.

“We had some big chances last year at City and we want to do that again this year.

“We have to focus, help each other and stick together.”
