Transfer Update: Top 5 Free Agents

Transfer Update: Top 5 Free Agents

The transfer window will remain open for just a couple of weeks and already we have seen some huge business amongst Europe’s top sides.

Just this week, Kieran Trippier has left Tottenham to join Atletico Madrid, while Juventus splashed the cash to sign Matthijs de Ligt from Ajax.

However, a number of clubs can still save some money by looking at the free agent’s market. With that in mind, we take a look at the top five players without a club this summer.

Daniel Sturridgetransfer-top-5-free-agents

The 29-year-old is without a club after being released by Liverpool at the end of last season and he is still confident of doing a job at the top level.

Injuries have continued to derail his progress in recent years, but there is still time for a top club to take a chance on the England international.

Yacine Brahimitransfer_yacine_brahimi

After playing 148 league games for Porto, Brahimi has proven he can cut it at the highest level. The winger has starred in the Premier League for the last five years, but he continues to bide his time in the search for a new club.

He is currently away at the Africa Cup of Nations and his future should be resolved on his return.

Mario Balotellitransfer_mario_balotelli

Balotelli may have calmed down in recent years, but clubs don’t appear to be jumping at the chance of signing the Italian striker.

He scored 41 goals during his time in France, with Nice and Marseille, and his goal-scoring record has always been impressive.

Danny Welbecktransfer_danny_welbeck

Like Sturridge, Welbeck’s injury problems are likely to be holding him back when it comes to negotiations this summer.

The former Arsenal man never got going at the Emirates Stadium, but he still has plenty to give at the age of 28.

Gary Cahilltransfer_gary_cahill

Teams will go a long way before finding a more experienced defender this summer, but his wage demands could prove a stumbling block.

He has won countless titles and represented England more than 50 times, but a short-term deal looks likely for the 33-year-old.
