Transfer Window: Ugbade Urges Nigerian Players To Take Wise Decisions

By Izuchukwu Okosi:

Former Nigeria international, Nduka Ugbade, hopes to see Super Eagles players feature regularly for their clubs in the 2017/2018 season, but advises that they should make the right decisions in the best interest of their careers during the transfer window, Completesportsnigeria.com reports.

Many Nigerian football players, home and overseas, have been linked with other clubs , and Ugbade bared his mind to Completesportsnigeria.com Tuesday on the current transfer window and how it could affect the careers of Nigerian players heading into the new season.

"First and foremost, I will like to see more of our players in the big clubs in Europe,  not just being squad members but actually playing regularly," Ugbade told Completesportsnigeria.com.‎

"However, the players who are presently receiving attention from other clubs need to be careful what they decide to do with their careers.

"The money is good,  big clubs are wonderful, but your career will be set backwards without playing consistently. It could also affect your chances of call-up in the national team.

"As much as it is wonderful to play in a big club, they will do well to choose wisely so that it doesn't affect their chances of playing consistently," Ugbade stressed.

"Surely, you will expect the likes of Ahmed Musa, Kelechi Iheanacho and Alex Iwobi to play in most of their club games and for someone like Henry Onyekuru to come to England, you understand, but if signing up for a bigger club means not getting playing time anymore, then its not worth it," Ugbade added.

The transfer window in most of the European leagues will close on August 31, 2017 although players who are free agents can be snapped up outside the timescale.
