Bursaspor defender, William Troost-Ekong, has expressed his delight after scoring his first international goal for Nigeria in the Super Eagles’ 1-1 draw with Dr Congo, and gleefully dedicates it to his unborn baby boy, Completesportsnigeria.com reports.
The game was part of the Super Eagles’ preparation ahead of the 2018 FIFA World Cup in Russia and served as farewell to Nigeria fans before the team depart the country for final preparation.
Troost-Ekong gave the Super Eagles the lead in the 15th minute from a clever free-kick taken by Ogenyi Onazi, and celebrated it in style by loading the ball on his tummy under his shirt – ostensibly forming a dummy of a pregnancy currently nurturing his expected baby boy.
Dr Congo equalised in the 78th minute from the penalty spot following a foul by Ola Aina on a Congolese opponent inside the box.
“Happy with my first international goal. This one is for my boy. Thanks for all your support!,” Troost-Ekong tweeted on his verified Twitter handle.
Up next for Troost-Ekong and his Nigeria teammates is the high profile international friendly against England at Wembley Stadium on Saturday, June 2 2018.
