Super Eagles defender William Troost-Ekong has been ruled out of Bursaspor’s Turkish Super Lig clash against Konyaspor on Sunday due to muscle strain, reports Completesportsnigeria. com.
The centre-back who has been a regular member of the Bursaspor side this season sustained the injury during his club’s Turkish Cup clash against Adanaspor on Wednesday.
Ekong limped off the pitch in the 78th minute and was replaced by Ismail Konuk.
He was immediately taken to the the hospital with tests revealing a muscle strain in his right leg.
“Based on the controls performed and the MR result, William Ekong was found to have muscle strength of 1st degree in the right posterior canal,” reads a statement on Bursaspor’s website.
“Ekong started treatment immediately with our health team and he will return for our Super League in our home clash against Fenerbahce on December 15.”
Meanwhile the Rio Olympics bronze medallist has thanked the club fans for their support following the injury and is looking to returning to the pitch soon.
“Good win last night away in the cup. Thanks for the messages I will be back fit soon! #TexasliEkong 🐊💪🏽 ,” he wrote on his Twitter handle on Thursday.
The 24-year-old linked up with Bursaspor from Belgian club Gent this summer.
