Tunisia coach, Hatem Missaoui, was full of praise for the home-based Super Eagles after both sides battled to a 1-1 African Nations Championship draw at the Kigali Regional Stadium on Friday.
Missaoui said his side came up against a very tough Nigerian team and was happy they earned a point in the game.
“Nigeria gave us a good fight. It was a tough game for us and I’m satisfied with the result,” he said after the game.
“We knew before the game that it was going to be a difficult afternoon for us and they actually proved us right.”
The Carthage Eagles scored what looked like a legitimate goal late in the first half that was ruled out by the centre referee.
The coach refused to blame the official and instead shifting attention to his team’s next game against Niger.
” I don’t want to comment on the disallowed goal. I can’t say if the ball crossed the line or not at the moment,” Missaoui added.
“Referees are human and they can make mistakes. The good thing is that we still have a good chance of progressing to the quater final.”
