Turkish Giants Seek Luiz Loan

Galatasaray have asked to take Brazilian Douglas Luiz on loan after he was refused a work permit to play at the Etihad. The Turkish giants spoke to Manchester City technical director Txiki Begiristain about the possibility over the weekend, with a decision likely to be made in the coming days.

Luiz was signed last summer from Vasco Da Gama for a fee which could eventually rise to £10m should he make the grade in the Premier League.
The 20-year-old was immediately loaned out to City’s sister club Girona last season but the samba starlet struggled for consistent game time.

Galatasaray are trying to secure City’s Belgium central defender Jason Denayer on a permanent basis and decided to also throw Luiz’s name into the talks.
Pep Guardiola suffered a blow last week after the youngster was denied a work permit, having earmarked Luiz for a role in his squad this term.

The Citizens have good relations with Galatasaray and there is a feeling Luiz could progress well in Turkey, subject to assurances he will be given regular first-team opportunities.
