U-20 AFCON: Nwakali, Osimhen Vow To Crush Burundi

By Richard Jideaka, Abuja

Flying Eagles skipper Kelechi Nwakali and striker Victor Osimhen have expressed the optimism that their Burundi counterparts will fall when they clash in the CAF Under-20 Cup of Nations qualifier in Bujumbura on Saturday.

Nwakali told Completesportnigeria.com that nothing short of victory in this first leg will suffice for the efforts and preparation they have put into the game, adding that the Flying Eagles have what it takes to go and get a win in Burundi.

"We have trained and prepared well enough to get a good result in Burundi this weekend and the focus is to play well and win the first leg and make the second leg much, much easier," Nwakali said.
"We are in good shape to win both legs and qualify for the Under-20 AFCON in Zambia later in the year.

"Though we don't know much about the Burundians, we are confident that they cannot end our target of going all the way to win the African title and qualify for the World Cup next year. We know the stuff we are made of and Burundi cannot stop our ambition."

Also Osimhen, who survived a major injury scare in the build-up, told Completesportsnigeria.com: "We know it is not going to be easy but we know our capability and we know where we are going. We shall give it our best shot and see what it will give us in Burundi.

"I cannot make promises about scoring goals in Burundi but if I get the opportunity to score goals I will take them but what matters most is to get a win away from home. We shall not disappoint in Burundi."
