Former Nigeria international Joseph Dosu has expressed confidence that the U-23 Eagles will pick one of the tickets for the 2016 Rio Olympic Games.
The U-23 Eagles will kick off their campaign at the CAF U-23 Cup of Nations in Senegal against Mali on Sunday in Mbour.
“I believe our chances are bright. It is not all about winning the championship but if we win it will fine, but the most important thing is to qualify for the Olympic Games in Rio 2016,” Dosu told completesportsnigeria.com.
“These our group opponents (Mali, Egypt and Algeria) are all football playing countries, they have talented players, and I think the Nigeria Football Federation have done well by taking our team outside the country for proper preparation.
“If we can come out victorious against Mali that will be good for them. It will give them the confidence ahead of the other group games.”
The Atlanta 1996 Olympic gold medallist stated that the experience of Siasia will be to the team’s advantage.
The former Super Eagles goalkeeper added: “We should be able to go through because we have the players who can do it, they’ve been in our league and know what to do at the right time.
“Also for Siasia, he has been there, from U-20 to U-23 and the Super Eagles. So if we are talking about experience he has it.”
