U-23 Eagles Edge Congo, Win AAG Bronze

By Sab Osuji In Brazzaville:

Christian Pyagbara scored the winning penalty kick as the U-23 Eagles defeated hosts Congo 5-3 on Thursday to claim the 2015 All Africa Games bronze medal here in Brazzaville.
Full-time ended goalless as both sides laboured to create decent scoring chances in the third-place match.
There was no extra-time allowed as the match went straight into a penalty shootout.
Paul Obanor, Kingsley Sokari, Daniel Etor and Atanda Sodiq were the other scorers for Nigeria, who converted all their spot kicks.
Congo’s second kick by Sagese Babele was saved by Emmanuel Daniel in goal for Nigeria.
The Nigeria U-23s, who have had to make do with only one set of jersies through their stay here, had lost 3-1 to Burkina Faso in the semi-finals, while Congo fell to Senegal.

  • Bronze, well manageable, better than nothing. Let them come back prepair seriously against the Olympic qualifier.
