–Team begin training for Zambia today
Despite beating Gabon 2-0 to scale through to the final round of qualifiers for the 2015 All Africa Games, National U-23 Eagles Coach Samson Siasia says he was not too impressed with the defence line up of the team, admitting he has a lot to do on the position before playing Zambia on March 21 at the Abuja National Stadium.
The former Super Eagles handler who could not hide his feelings about the defenders after the Saturday’s match said he would need to bring in one or two foreign based players to make the team stronger ahead of the crucial qualifier.
Siasia who also spoke through the team’s spokesman, Timi Ibikagboro said he will continue to work hard until he finally gets the best for the country, saying the team is still work in progress.
“I am not too impressed with the performance of the team particularly the defence which I believe we still need to do a lot to improve before we play Zambia, scoring is not our problem but we need to guide against situations of conceding goals, so we are going to see how to inject one or two pros to make the team stronger,” says the coach.
Meanwhile, Complete Sports has been informed that players on continental assignment have been released to their clubs while those remaining in camp will begin training today in Abuja.
According to the spokesman, they are all expected back in camp on Monday 16 for the match scheduled for March 21 in Abuja.
