Third qualifying round matches in the 2017/2018 UEFA Champions League will hold on Wednesday with Super Eagles midfielder John Ogu’s club headlining the fixtures involving Nigerian players, reports Completesportsnigeria.com.
The Super Eagles star on Tuesday expressed his optimism that his Israeli side Hapoel Be’er Sheva will overcome Bulgarian side, Ludogorets in the first leg at Happel’s Yaakov Tumer Toto Stadium home ground.
“Ready for tomorrow against Ludogorets!! Road to the UEFA Champions League group stage, ” Ogu tweeted.
Be’er Sheva defeated Hungarian side Budapest Honved 5-3 on aggregate in the second qualifying round to set up the tie against Ludogorets.
In other third qualifying round first leg matches involving Nigerian players on Wednesday, Musa Mohammed’s Instanbul Basaksehir will be guests of Club Brugge that will likely parade another Nigerian Emmanuel Bonaventure Dennis at the Jan Breydelstadion.
Poland’s Legia Warszawa with striker Daniel Chima Chukwu will play against Astana at the Astana Arena, while 28-year-old Nigerian midfielder Sunny Omoreige will hope to be selected by Slovenia’s Maribor for the game against Icelandic side FH Hafnarfjordur at the Ljudski Vrt Stadium.
The biggest clash of the night is the one in France where last season’s Europa League finalists face Mario Balotelli’s Nice.
The second legs of the midweek fixtures will hold on 1 and 2 August. The winners will proceed to the play-offs where the group stage is the reward for winners.
