Despite narrowly crashing out of the race for place in the group stage of this season's UEFA Champions League, John Ogu, has hailed his side, Hapoel Beer Sheva, for a spirited performance against Celtic in the second leg of their play-off, Completesportsnigeria.com reports
After losing the first leg 5-2 last week in Scotland, Hapoel needed to win by three clear goals, but could only manage a 2-0 win, and consequently crashed out as Celiac won 5-4 on aggregate.
Reacting to the Hapoel Beer Sheva's painful exit, Ogu described playing in the Champions League qualifiers as a wonderful experience for him.
He also praised Hapoel fans for their support throughout the game.
"Proud of the team effort. We move on. Thanks to our fans for a wonderful support. Such a great experience .Thank you God," Ogu wrote on his Twitter handle.
Hapoel had the chance to take the lead on 15 minutes but Mahadan Radi missed from the penalty spot.
They eventually went 1-0 up through Ben Sahar before Ovidiu Hoban made it 2-0.
