Udi Joins Akwa United On One-year Deal; Eager To Coach Former Club

Former Nigeria international, Duke Udi, has signed a one year coaching contract with Nigeria Professional Football League side, Akwa United, Completesports.com reports.

Udi replaces Brazilian gaffer, Ravel Everton, who was shown the exit door during the 2018/19 NPFL Championship Playoffs in Lagos.

Completesports.com’s checks reveal that Udi will be unveiled to the Promise Keepers’ supporters, fans and the media later this week.

Udi, who has had coaching spells at Giwa FC, Sunshine Stars and Osun United among other clubs, assumed duties in his new post on Monday.

“I’m delighted to become the coach of Akwa United and I’m grateful to the management led by Paul Bassey and the government of Akwa Ibom State,” Udi told Completesports.com in an exclusive chat on Monday.

“I played for Akwa United in 2007 and coming back in 2019 to coach the team is a thing of joy for me.

“It is not often for one to coach his former club and for me, I’m grateful and happy getting the opportunity to coach my former club.

“It’s a big challenge for me and I’m going to give it my utmost best.”
