have all thanked President Muhammadu Buhari for keeping his promise of rewarding them for their various achievements for the country.

On Thursday in Abuja, President Buhari gave out cash rewards to members of the 1985 Eaglets squad, the 2015 Eaglets side and also the U-23 Eagles.

The president also rewarded the men's national basketball team and World Scrabble champion, Wellington Jighere.

In a chat with Completesportsnigeria.com, Ugbade said the reward has laid to rest years of lamentation.

"It was a very wonderful one by the president. It shows that miracles still happen. So we are very satisfied with what has happened, it has put to bed all our grievances for over 30 years," he told Completesportsnigeria.com.

Ugbade said that it was great seeing his old team-mates, stating that they even held a meeting on how to always keep in touch.

"We even enjoyed more of the reunion than the money, I saw Fatai Atere, Segun Fapetu and so many of them. The only two people that were not with us was the late Kingsley Akhiobare who was represented by his mother and Momoh, who is with the United States Army stationed in Germany.

"We had a meeting where we discussed how we will always keep in touch and we collected each other's phone numbers."

Speaking on the reward, Amuneke pointed out that it will only urge them to do more.

"We thank God and also we thank the president for hosting us. So what we have to do is to continue to work hard because it is only when you work hard that you get rewarded, " the Golden Eagles coach told Completesportsnigeria.com.

"Once again, I say a big thank you to the president for this reward."

On his part, Amoo said: "When you work, you get paid. So this is a big gesture from the president. What we have to do now is to continue to work hard so that one will be rewarded with something even bigger than this especially now that we are going to take part at the Olympics.

"This is a big opportunity especially when you are in a country of over 150 million people where you have people working in your profession and you are chosen to come and showcase what you can do.

"So it is a privilege and honour to be rewarded by the president."
