By James Agberebi:
Former Golden Eaglets assistant coach, Nduka Ugbade, has expressed confidence that the current squad led by Emmanuel Amuneke will excel in their FIFA U-17 World Cup group.
The Eaglets have been grouped alongside hosts Chile, Croatia and USA in the draw which was held in the early hours of Thursday in Santiago, Chile.
Ugbade however stressed that it won’t be an easy ride for the Eaglets in the group.
“All the countries in our group are good footballing nations,” Ugbade told completesportsnigeria.com. “And considering the fact that Chile just won the Copa America is an important factor we must recognize.
“It’s not going to be easy, but having won the competition the last time, I expect the Eaglets to do well.”
Ugbade who was part of the Flying Eagles squad to the last FIFA U-20 World Cup, called on the NFF to make sure the team don’t lack anything.
“Whatever the technical crew will need to succeed, they must be given, it is very important, having had the experience of the last one,” the World Cup-winning captain with the Golden Eaglets in 1985 added.
