Assistant coach of the Flying Eagles Nduka Ugbade has stated that the FIFA U-20 World Cup ticket which is at stake will motivate the team to go all out for victory against Congo at the AYC in Senegal.
The Flying Eagles opened their AYC campaign with a 3-1 win against host Senegal on Sunday with goals coming from Taiwo Awoniyi and Ifeanyi Matthew.
The group’s other game saw Congo hold Cote d’Ivoire to a 1-1 draw.
Speaking with Sports Radio, 88.9 Brila FM, Ugbade said the team has no option but to go for an outright victory.
“We have no option other than to win against Congo because for us it will guarantee automatic qualification for the U-20 World Cup in Chile. We must win and we are going to win.”
The former U-17 coach however said they will approach the game with caution.
“We have to be careful against the Congolese because we watched them against Cote d’Ivoire and they are a tactical side,” Ugbade said
