United Open To McTominay PL Loan

Manchester United would prefer to keep Scott McTominay in the Premier League if they allow him to be loaned out in January.

The United and Scotland midfielder was an unused substitute in Tuesday’s last-gasp Champions League win over Swiss side Young Boys, which secured a place in the last 16 for Jose Mourinho’s team.

A number of clubs in the Championship were keen on the 21-year-old back in the summer before the Red Devils decided to see how he fared after making a first-team breakthrough last season.

McTominay was duly rewarded with a new long-term deal and there is no suggestion United would be open to selling the academy graduate.

However, the hierarchy knows the starlet needs regular starts and it is understood they would be receptive if a lower-tier Premier League club does come forward with a loan proposal in the January transfer window.

McTominay was in the team during the early weeks of the campaign but was taken out of the spotlight as the Manchester giants continued to struggle with results.

The Preston-born player has been at United since the age of nine and will take his lead from Mourinho, who has been impressed by both his attitude and willingness to listen since giving him a senior opportunity.
