Argentina forward Lionel Messi remains an injury doubt as LaLiga leaders Barcelona hope to extend their unbeaten run and continue their push for the title when they visit Sevilla on Saturday.
Messi sat out both Argentina’s international friendlies against Italy and Spain due to a minor hamstring problem.
Although Messi returned to training on Thursday, Barcelona coach Ernesto Valverde said he is yet to decide whether the five-time FIFA Player of the Year will play against Sevilla.
“We are taking care of Messi, because he has a minor injury,” Valverde said in Friday’s press conference.
“We have to see how he reacts after Friday’s training.”
Valverde said Barcelona will be targeting a win to strengthen their chance of winning the league title.
“It is a key game. It is a very difficult stadium and a win would be very favourable to our aim of winning the title,” he added.
“Tomorrow we have to compete, we will have to work as we have done throughout the season to get the three points.”
Barcelona are on 75 points, 11 points ahead of Atletico Madrid who are on 64 points in the league table with nine games left to play.
