Van Gaal Fears United Exit After Mourinho Sacking, Pellegrini Shocked

By Izuchukwu Okosi:

The sacking of Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho has continued to generate widespread reactions from managers in the Barclays Premier League.

Following the sacking of the self-acclaimed ‘Special One’ by the Chelsea hierarchy on Thursday, fellow managers in the English top flight are also caught in the sack fever.

Manchester City manager Manuel Pellegrini spoke on the shocking sack of the former Porto, Inter Milan and Real Madrid boss.

“It’s a difficult situation. The Premier League has lost an important manager. Maybe I disagree with him on a lot of things but he’s not my enemy. It’s a bad thing for the Premier League,” Pellegrini said.

The Chilean however admitted during the club’s press conference on Friday that he will not miss the man whom he had several verbal clashes with.

“It’s not for me to miss him but the Premier League will miss him. The Premier League is better with Mourinho.

“I manage the team in a very different way to the way he does but that doesn’t mean he’s not a good manager or important for the league,” Pellegrini offered.

However across the red half of Manchester, Louis van Gaal is not sleeping comfortably as the fate suffered by Mourinho could be his turn with the results the Red Devils are churning out.

United were eliminated from the group stages of the Champions League and will play in the less prestigious Europa League in 2016 although they are fourth in the table.

“I have the full confidence of my board and my players, that is what I feel. That is like that, but we have to get results, we have to win,” van Gaal said.

United are now without a win in all competitions in their last five games. Van Gaal insisted he has the backing of the board but that he needs to improve results.

“We know that, the players know that, I know that and the members of staff know that. There is no doubt that we have to win because when you lose too much then even for me it is the end of the world,” the Dutchman admitted.

Manchester United will face Norwich City on Saturday.
