Leicester City striker Jamie Vardy has said that his target against Manchester United was the three points at stake and not breaking the Premier League goals record.
Vardy scored his 11th goal in 11 consecutive EPL games when he put Leicester ahead in their 1-1 draw against Manchester United.
Speaking after the match, Vardy, who is the league top scorer with 14 goals, said the draw was a fair result for both teams.
“The main thing was the performance, we put a shift in and a point was the fair result. We have a lot of pace in the team and counter attacking is a big advantage for us.
“We have come straight from a corner. It’s unbelievable, I got a bit carried away with myself,” he said in his post-match interview.
“There has been a lot of focus on me, I have kept my head down and not tried to think too much about it. I knew it would be a battle against Chris Smalling and it was an entertaining one for the neutrals.
“We are disappointed in the way we conceded the goal. We are taking each game as it comes and now look forward to Swansea next week.”
