Patrick Vieira was delighted with the battling spirit his side showed as he claimed his first victory as Nice manager against Lyon on Friday.
Allan Saint-Maximin grabbed the only goal of the match as Les Aiglons claimed a 1-0 victory at the Groupama Stadium, a result that ended their poor start to the season as they had only picked up one point from their three competitive matches since
Vieira’s appointment as manager over the summer.
The former France international was delighted with the application of his players during the contest and he believes the result will act as a huge boost to his side heading into the rest of the season.
“It’s never simple when coming here. We battled, we came to defend well, whilst keeping the philosophy which is important for us,” Vieira was quoted as saying on the Nice website.
“To go back to Nice with the three points is great for morale. We were lacking a bit of luck, confidence, to have a match we could refer to. We had it this evening.”
Vieira did acknowledge there was an element of fortune about their victory, but he was more than willing to accept the luck that came their way.
He added: “A draw would have been deserved for Lyon, because they had lots of chances, but the luck was on our side this evening.”Fastest Paying Betting Site in Nigeria: Grab your 140% First Time Deposit Bonus Now — www.Sportybet.Com Copyright © 2021 Completesports.com All rights reserved.
