Wagner Expects Bacuna To Recover

Huddersfield manager David Wagner is confident Juninho Bacuna will put his freak own-goal on Tuesday night behind him. The Terriers were trailing 1-0 against Stoke City at the bet365 Stadium before summer signing Bacuna, who was making his debut for the club, scored an extraordinary own-goal from 40 yards out when trying to clear the ball upfield.

It was a strange end to the Carabao Cup second-round clash and the Netherlands Under-21 international’s goal has been doing the rounds across social media for the past 48 hours.
Wagner, who has been in charge of Huddersfield since 2015, is not worried about the 21-year-old’s state of mind and the German boss expects Bacuna to become stronger on the back of his recent setback.

“He is young, it was his first game and he made mistakes, yes,” he was quoted as saying by the Examiner. “But he was brave and did some good things as well. We have talent in our group, there is no doubt.
“I know this is a very young group we have together with a lot of potential.”
