Manager David Wagner says Huddersfield’s poor defensive record will not make him change the team’s style of play. Despite keeping just nine Premier League cleansheets last season, the Terriers managed to retain their top-flight status for the 2018/19 campaign and the club was very busy during the recent transfer window, adding nine faces to the squad.
Two defenders arrived at the John Smith’s Stadium – Terence Kongolo and Erik Durm – whilst goalkeeper Ben Hamer was snapped up on a free after his contract expired at Leicester City.
However, not conceding continues to be a problem for Huddersfield and they have already shipped 10 league goals this season, leaving the club just one place above the relegation zone.
There have been calls for Wagner to play a less expansive style of football but the German-born tactician has refused to change, insisting there is no need to worry about a lack of cleansheets.
He was quoted as saying by Sky Sports: “Does it mean we have to change anything, or we have to start to overthink or panic, no absolutely not.”Copyright © 2020 Completesports.com All rights reserved.
