Warwickshire Give Trott Perfect Send-Off

Jonathan Trott received the best retirement present as Warwickshire secured the Division Two title by beating Kent at Edgbaston. The 37-year-old will now hang up his bat after being part of the side that secured an innings-and-34-run triumph over Kent to claim the second-tier championship.

Kent began day three on 38-1, needing 175 more to make the West Midlanders bat again but they were all out for 179 just after lunch, with Chris Wright and Keith Barker each taking two wickets on their final appearance for the club.

Olly Stone returned figures of 3-35 and he will have some new bowling colleagues next year after it was announced during the lunch break that left-armer Barker would be moving to Hampshire while Wright’s departure to Leicestershire was already known.

It was a fitting end to Trott’s career and he was given a post-match salute after 15 years at the county and 52 Tests for England in which he scored 3,835 runs at an average of 44.08 with nine centuries.
