Hull FC forward Danny Washbrook says he was pleased to see his team produce an “energetic” display against Castleford on Friday. Lee Radford’s men have struggled badly in recent weeks and they are now planning for next season after falling away from the top four.
They fell to a 28-8 defeat but the Black and Whites did dig deep in the second half to produce a better performance at the KCOM Stadium.
Some sections of the media have claimed Radford could lose his job but Washbrook insists he saw signs of improvement.
He told the club’s official website: “I don’t think we ever looked like we was going to win the game, but we just wanted a performance tonight and it never looked like it was going to be a blowout scoreline.
“We decided to throw the ball about a bit more in those final 20 minutes and looked really energetic. We’ve done that a lot in the last couple of years and we know we can play well doing that.
“Some of the positional changes during the game took a bit of getting used to but it helped that we weren’t playing with that much structure towards the end of the game.”Copyright © 2020 Completesports.com All rights reserved.
