Salford coach Ian Watson has hailed the permanent signing of Greg Burke from Widnes Vikings after this year’s loan spell. The 25-year-old had been with Widnes since 2016 after loan spells at Bradford, Workington Town and Kull KR while on the books at Wigan Warriors.
He moved to Salford in June on loan from the Vikings until the end of the season, but has now penned terms on a permanent basis for the next two campaigns.
The forward scored on his Red Devils debut and Watson feels it is a great coup to get him on board.
“Greg has been a big asset for us in the short-term,” he said. “He impressed on his debut against Widnes, playing big minutes and crossing for a great try.
“He’s a mobile forward with great ball handling skills and a tough defensive mindset. While Greg has been sidelined, he has knuckled down and through his dedication, alongside our fantastic strength and conditioning department, has gotten himself in fantastic shape which will show on his return to the field.
“Myself and all the performance staff have been really impressed with Greg’s attitude and we know he will be a great signing for us.”
