Waugh Hits Out At Ball Tampering Players

Former Australia legend Steve Waugh has denounced the three players at the centre of the ball tampering scandal as “stupid”.

In March, Steve Smith, David Warner, and Cameron Bancroft were all found guilty of using sandpaper to affect the swing of the ball on their Test against South Africa.

It resulted in the suspensions of the three players and put a big black mark over Australian cricket.

The findings of two reviews by Cricket Australia will be published on Monday, with director Mark Taylor describing them as “hard hitting”.

And Waugh, who played 168 Test matches for Australia has branded the three players at the centre of the scandal as stupid.

“They are in a bit of a bubble. They’ve got a lot of people that tell them how good they are and how everything’s fantastic and sometimes you can lose touch with reality. They just didn’t realise how big a mistake it was and what they’d actually done.” Waugh told ESPN.
