Flying Eagles players wept uncontrollably following their shocking 4-3 defeat by Sudan in the second leg of their CAF U-20 Nations Cup qualifying fixture at the Teslim Balogun Stadium Lagos on Saturday, reports Completesportsnigeria.com.
Emmanuel Amuneke's charges won the reverse fixture 2-1 and were favourites to secure the ticket to Zambia 2017.
But instead, the Nigeria U-20s were brought down to earth by their well determined visitors who truncated their ambition of defending the title won by their predecessors last year in Senegal.
Majority of the players sat on the turf after the centre referee blew the final whistle shedding tears, and had to be dragged into the dressing room by some backroom staff.
Goalkeeper of the side, Akpan Udoh was particularly very dejected than the others and needed to be escorted into the team bus afterwards.
Udoh was also booed by the fans who were also unimpressed with his performance in the game.
None of the players also spoke with journalists after the game as they were yet to recover from the shocking defeat.Fastest Paying Betting Site in Nigeria: Grab your 140% First Time Deposit Bonus Now — www.Sportybet.Com Copyright © 2021 Completesports.com All rights reserved.
