Wenger Accepts Criticism For Carabao Cup Defeat, Shifts Focus To EPL

Arsene Wenger has urged his Arsenal side to recover quickly from their Carabao Cup final defeat to Manchester City on Sunday.

Arsenal lost 3-0 to Manchester at the Wembley Stadium with Sergio Aguero, Vincent Kompany and David Silva getting the goals for Pep Guardiola’s side.

Wenger, whose wait for a Carabao Cup trophy continues following the defeat, also rued his side’s missed chances in the first half.

“I felt the game, we had the first good chance, a very easy one that we missed,” Wenger told the BBC after the game.

“After that we made a big mistake for their first goal. But we controlled them pretty well in the first half, but they came out in the second half, and we were unlucky because the second goal was offside. But congratulations to Man City, they deserve the win.

“You have to accept being criticised when you lose games. But I believe we have to recover quickly. We got to the final, we lost, so now we have to focus on the next Premier League game.”

Arsenal face Manchester City in a rescheduled English Premier League game on Thursday.
