Wenger: Beating Palace Could Be Our Turning Point

Arsenal boss, Arsene Wenger, says that the Gunners’ 2-1 away win against Crystal Palace on Sunday could be the turning point for his team.

Olivier Giroud put Arsenal ahead on 16 minutes but Joel Ward made it 1-1 in the 28th minute. A Delaney own goal 10 minutes into the second half gave Arsenal the lead which they held on to.

In his post-match comment, Wenger expressed delight for his team’s performance.

“It was a mental test to see how we would respond. After we got the second goal we fought well. I am pleased.”

“This is a difficult place for teams to come and win. To get the three points could be a turning point for us.”

Wenger reserved special praise for Mezut Ozil and Alexis Sanchez.

“He (Sanchez) brings the drive forward, he brings the pressure on the opponent and can score goals.”

“He (Ozil) had a very good performance. It’s a pleasure to watch his passing. He was absolutely magnificent.”

“He made many runs behind without the ball. He mixed up his game because usually he comes for the ball.”

Last weekend, Arsenal suffered a shock 2-0 loss at home to West Ham.
