Wenger Challenges “World-Class” Ozil, Wary Of Barkley Threat

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has challenged midfielder Mesut Ozil to score more goals ahead of the Premier League clash against Everton.
“A player of his calibre you want him to add goals to his assists. He is world class,” Wenger said at his pre-match press conference on Friday.

“You want to do well in the big games at home. We want to produce the same performance again.”

He added that forwards Theo Walcott and Olivier Giroud have done their jobs well enough.
Wenger said: “The most important thing is they contribute goals.”

While other managers have called for changes in the punishing Christmas fixture schedule, Wenger wants it retained.
He added: “I would cry if you changed that. It is part of English tradition and English football.”

The Frenchman warns his players to watch out for Everton midfielder Ross Barkley.
He said: “He has massive potential. He has absolute power and is certainly one of the most promising.”

On former Arsenal midfielder and current Manchester City youth coach Patrick Vieira, Wenger said: “He has the qualities to be a manager. He is old enough to start. It depends what he wants to do.”
