Wenger Expects Ozil, Sanchez To Face Chelsea, Hails Hiddink

Arsenal manger Arsene Wenger on Thursday gave a hint that influential duo of Mesut Ozil and Alexis Sanchez will be fit for Sunday's Premier League clash against Chelsea.

Wenger responded to questions from the media in his Thursday's press conference ahead of the game.

"The doubt is that Sanchez has been out for a long time and it is a great risk of a setback," Wenger said.

"He has cleared on all the tests. That's one thing. Then he has to clear training.

"I am cautious with him. We do not want to take a gamble but the signs he has shown in training are good.

"Ozil will be available. We have no big problems. Sanchez has the next two days to prove it but I think this time will be available.

"Coquelin's back in full training today, ahead of schedule. Danny Welbeck will be in full training next week. Tomas Rosicky will play with the U-21s."

Wenger tactfully avoided questions on Chelsea and the 'specialist in failure' jibe thrown his way by sacked Jose Mourinho.

"I see where you want to take me but honestly I'm not ready to travel."

On Mourinho's departure, the Frenchman said:

"Because of the quality of the players on the pitch it will be a very intense battle no matter the manager on the bench."

The Frenchman joked about Petr Cech's gloves and said:

"He looks like he has been here forever because he has adapted so well. He has enough gloves."

On the recent doping comments he made, Wenger replied thus:

"I have more desire than time but I'm always happy to help. I've said what I have to say and there's not a lot more I can do.

On the possibility of the Gunners doing more business on the transfer market, Wenger said:

"You will certainly over the next ten days have some work to do, not especially with Arsenal," suggesting Mohammed Elneny may be his only January signing.

Finally Wenger rates interim Chelsea manager Guus Hiddink highly.

"I'm not in the best position to analyse what happens to hem. I rate him highly, he's had an exceptional career.

"He is one of the leading managers who represented the Dutch philosophy and exported it across Europe."

The Arsenal vs Chelsea game starts 5pm Nigerian time.
