Wenger: I’m Stepping Down As Arsenal Manager!

Arsene Wenger has announced in a shocking press statement that he will be quitting as Arsenal manager at the end of the season.

The Frenchman, 68, joined the Gunners in 1996 and won three Premier League titles and several other trophies, leading the club to an unbeaten league campaign in 2003/2004.

“After careful consideration and following discussions with the club, I feel it is the right time for me to step down at the end of the season,” Wenger said in the statement on Arsenal’s official website on Friday.

“I am grateful for having had the privilege to serve the club for so many memorable years.

“I managed the club with full commitment and integrity.

“I want to thank the staff, the players, the Directors and the fans who make this club so special.

“I urge our fans to stand behind the team to finish on a high.

“To all the Arsenal lovers take care of the values of the club.

“My love and support for ever.”

Majority owner Stan Kroenke said: “This is one of the most difficult days we have ever had in all our years in sport. One of the main reasons we got involved with Arsenal was because of what Arsène has brought to the club on and off the pitch. His longevity and consistency over such a sustained period at the highest level of the game will never be matched.

“Arsène has unparalleled class and we will always be grateful to him. Everyone who loves Arsenal and everyone who loves football owes him a debt of gratitude. Three Premier League titles, including an entire season unbeaten, seven FA Cup triumphs and 20 successive years in the Champions League is an exceptional record. He has also transformed the identity of our club and of English football with his vision for how the game can be played.

“We have high ambitions to build on Arsène’s remarkable tenure and to honour his vision by ensuring that Arsenal competes for and wins the biggest and most important prizes in the game.

“We must now focus on making a strong finish to the season and ask our millions of fans around the world to join us in paying appropriate tribute to one of the greats of Arsenal’s history and one of the greats of the game.”

The club explained: “Arsene will lead the team to the end of the season and we will make an appointment as soon as possible. The club will not be making any further comment on the selection process until an appointment is made.”

This man is the best to grace the football coaching profession. This is a coach that can turn a $35000 worth player into a world beater worth $35000000. No continent is spared. Africans benefited from his skill. Kanu and Iwobi are example of past and present players that Arsene Wenger has helped develop. This is a real coach who believe in “produce your own instead of relying on ready made players.” Time will tell if Arsenal will do well or not as AW is leaving. I am not a fan of any club but if there is a club I give my sympathy it is Arsenal because of what Arsene has done for young ones and football in general. I wish he will continue in a sort of capacity footballwise. National team? FIFA appointee? Lecturer? Any capacity for I feel he should not just go like that. All those AW must go brigade are happy now? I don’t think so. Some are regretting. The future of Arsenal is on the balance. Who wears the large shoe of AW? Man U has never been the same since Alex Ferguson left. Can Arsenal survive without Arsene? Already my friend who is never tired of telling me the problem with Arsenal is Arsene and that if AW does not leave Arsenal will never improve is down with sadness since the news and he is no more sure if it is wise to allow him go. After all the man still has a clear and sound mind at 68 years. I wish him well.

  • Finally Arsenal will have a fresh breath of air

Arsene Wenger ….what a great man!

This is a man that will almost want to cry if his team loses and will be beaming with smiles when his team wins !!!

You need to see him in trainings and he heard him talk during press conference !!!
A coach that has NEVER said anything bad about his players ….always giving them a chance to improve because he has always said; “players are humans and not robots so they can make mistakes!!”

A man that takes the front role when any of his players are critized and take to the bench when it is time for that player to show his talents on the pitch !
A man that could turn a Kanu from Inter into a King Kanu !
A Thierry from Juve to A King Thierry
A Vieira from Milan to A king Vieira

A coach that will play any player and bring out your very best!
This man has so much trust in the academic ! A true father figure
i don’t want to mention the names of I established youth that his great man has transformed into superstars!!

    A Coach of the invisibles!
A coach that presented a club with such a stadium without being in debt !!!

I WISH I OWE A CLUB….his phone would have being ringing.
He will come into my board (not as a coach) because he had already achieve that fleet very successfully … But he would come take care of my youth program and the academic because as far as I am concern this is BEST PLAYER’s COACH/MAN-manager ever in global soccer !!!!
Just ask all the players that he has coached !!!!
***Weah, Kanu, Lauren, Kolo, Iwobi ***

I wish he had waited till the end of the season to announce this news.

Prof Wenger…long shall you live !!!
