Wenger: Man City Have Petrol Money And Ideas To Win The League

Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger has attributed Manchester City’s success in the Premier League so far to the huge resources, money and ideas, at their disposal, and he believes the Guardiola’s side will last distance.

Wenger stated this during his press conference of Friday ahead of Arsenal’s  Premier League home match against struggling Newcastle United on Saturday.

City are yet to taste defeat in the EPL and are atop in the table on 49 points, 11 points ahead of city rivals Manchester United.

And Wenger, whose 2003-04 Invincibles side has drawn comparisons with Manchester City, believes Pep Guardiola’s side has everything they need to succeed.

“We had no petrol but ideas, they have petrol and ideas,” Wenger pointed out, referring to Manchester City’s huge financial based made possible by mega rich UAE oil business mogul, Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan.

“They have everything they need to be successful. Everyone expects that they will last the season, so why not? Everything goes for them in games but they have the quality to turn it in their favour.”

Wenger says that despite the fact that the season is still far off, City can also go all the way.

He remarks: “There’s still a long way to go. They have quality to turn it in their favour. They have plenty of resources and quality. It’s not easy. You have to respect their achievement.”

The Frenchman reveals that he is undecided about including Shkodran Mustafi against Newcastle after he went off injured against Manchester United.

He also confirms that Aaron Ramsey is out for three weeks.

“Basically, Mustafi is back in training, but I don’t know if I will include him. A bit of a gamble. Ramsey will not be available, out for a bit longer… Maybe three weeks.”

On Mesut Ozil’s current contract issue, Wenger says nothing has been decided.

He also dismisses reports about Manchester United approaching Arsenal for the services of Ozil.

“How close? I don’t know how close. We have never been approached by Man United anyway so I don’t see why that came up.

“That is something that has been created. [He’ll stay] until the end of the season, the rest is open.”

And on Jack Wilshere’s contract talks and Alexis Sanchez’s recent struggles, Wenger reacts: “I will talk to him, (Wilshere) I said the end of December and we are in  the beginning of December.

“I wanted to see how much he can contribute and last physically. I consider him an Arsenal man.”

“He’s focused (Sanchez) in training. It doesn’t come off as much as it did before.

“You go through periods like that. He always tries to make a difference. Cannot fault his commitment or attitude at all.”

  • Without Pogba, Manutd look lifeless. No
creativity at all, no proper forward balls,
we fail to link the midfield with the
attackers. Time we put an end to this in
the next transfer window and bring in
    someone to support Pogba. Our
    performances are utter rubbish without
him. We cannot be dependent on one

  • Nonsense man with out vision and focus

  • Arsenal are 7th in the table with 30 points. Man City are 1st with 49 points. 29 points difference!!! Why is he not giving credit to the coaching methods of Pep Guardiola? Arsenal has dollars and pounds too. So, Arsene Wenger wants to tell me that if they sincerely want to pay like Man City, that they can’t pay? Lie. They can pay but they are stingy. They can spend if only they want to spend like Man City, ManU, Barca, Real Madrid, PSG, Chelsea, etc. The money is there. You can’t pay or buy big players but you built the Emirates Arena from seratch. You can’t buy big players but you can spend as little as £400k for a player and sell him for £50000000. So where is the igho. Come to think of it sef, how many players in Man City are so popular that it was the popularity that attracted Man City’s scouting department to buy. They were nothing or their popularity has faded before they came to Man City and they were worked on to become the stars they are today. Is it Aguero from Ath. Madrid? Is it David Silva? Maybe Gab Jesus? Who have heard of the goalkeeper before coming to Man City? Yaya was a finished man before coming to Man City. Over to you Wenger. Any Arsenal supporter can defend Wenger.
